The process to mirror a disk on a itanium running hpux 11.23 is as per the attchment what is the step by step process to break the mirror?

Hi,

for boot disk:

1. reduce all lvols
lvreduce -m 0 /dev/vg00 /dev/dsk/...
2. remove disk from vg
vgreduce /dev/vg00 /dev/dsk/
3. remove efi partition headers and table form disk
idisk -R /dev/rdsk/...

Not as difficult as mirroring.

---
7. extend lvols to new sub-partition on the disk

# lvextend -m 1 /dev/vg00/lvol1 /dev/dsk/c2t1d0s2
.... lvextend -m 1 (additional LV)...
---

reverse the previous commands with

# lvreduce -m 0 /dev/vg00/lvol1 /dev/dsk/c2t1d0s2
.... lvreduce -m 0 (additional LV)...

Would i have to modify the ?EFI?HPUX?AUTO file to vmunix? and copy to EFI area?

The first command should read.
lvreduce -m 0 /dev/vg00/lvol1 /dev/dsk/c2t0d0s2

The sector i important otherwise the command fails.

After the lvreduce, verify the boot options with the setboot command.

# setboot

of course for you have to reduce all lvols

lvreduce -m 0 /dev/vg00/lvol1 /dev/dsk/c2t0d0s2
..
lvreduce -m 0 /dev/vg00/lvol9 /dev/dsk/c2t0d0s2

For the sake of completeness.
Here is the entire process from start to finish to break a mirror on an itanium box.

1. reduce all lvols
lvreduce -m 0 /dev/vg00/lvol? /dev/dsk/c?t?d?s2
2. remove disk from vg
vgreduce /dev/vg00 /dev/dsk/c?t?d?s2

3. remove efi partition headers and table form disk
idisk -R /dev/rdsk/ c?t?d?s2

4. On boot up goto the boot options.
Then delete boot options and delete the alternate boot path.
