hi everyone

I know I can see whether a vg status is exclusive via vgdisplay, how though can I see if it's cluster aware or has quorom activated ?

Stranger!!

Surely if the vg is activated the fact that it is exclusive mode shows it is cluster aware. And if the vg is not active then you can just make it so!

I may be missing the point though buddy!? I guess you could use some echo | adb type command to query the vgra to see if the cluster bit has been set?

Hi,

The exclusive status of the vg in the vgdisplay command is the only way to know that the vg is cluster aware. There is no other detail that is available from the vgdisplay command that can tell you something else. Also there is no way to find if the quorum is active or not. A "vgdisplay -v /dev/vg_name" command with some volumes (PV's) "not availble" may help you to assume the quorum is not available.

You can find out cluster awareness via Sam (assuming that the ServiceGuard software is installed)

Select the Clusters option, then High Availability Clusters, then Cluster Configuration.

This effectively runs

/usr/lbin/cmui -scl_conf /usr/lbin/cm/C/CMcore.ui

(this can be run directly from the command line)

From there, select your cluster name, then choose Actions, View Cluster Package Requirements

This will show you details similar to

Probably not the quickest way to do it, but you do get there in the end.

Hi,

Thanks everyone. yep, I recalled later that a pre-requisite to make a VG exclusive is to have previously made it aware. Should have remembered this to be honest....or looked it up (rtfm.....)

Checking further to see if I can programmatically check if the vg has quorom disabled. The easiest way will be to check the activate options I suppose. We have some machines that are cross campered mirrored between symetrix that require quorom to be switched off. Later machines have a primary and alternate device with the mirroring performed on the sym.

Currently performing an audit of al our clusters via a script so plenty more questions to come
