If you plug the cables into the same ports on the same switch and the domain ID of the switch has not changed, then the device names should stay the same.

hth
bv

I have a server that is attached to VA7100 that was moved to a different rack. When the cables were plugged back in and the system powered up, I noticed that the device files to my va7100 had changed from /dev/dsk/c5t#d# and /dev/dsk/c7t#d# to /dev/dsk/c9t#d# and /dev/dsk/c10t#d#. Is this just a case of putting the cables back into the wrong ports on the switch?

You mean back into the right ports. Yes.

Unless you have a recent "map" file froma vgexport, then you couls just vgimport the new dev files.
