Hi,

I also strongly feel that you might not be able to change the cXtydz numbers.

the t refers to the target device id and is your scsi id and depends on which slot the hard disk is connected (in case of hot swappable hard disk) and which scsi id it is set to (non hot swappable). the Lun number would normally be zero unless and until you are connecting to a raid array.

Thanks and Regards
naveej

Hello,

Suppose I add a SCSI controller to my HP9000 servers. Is there a way to customize the device files of the disks connected to this controller.

For exemple, I would like that my controller number is 10, and the device files are
/dev/dsk/c10txdy

Please advise

Luk,

I've used the attached procedure to build my own device files for tape devices. It seems like it might work just as well for disks.

Pete

Is'nt it by default ?.

c10 - Card instance 10
tx - Target id
dy - LUN

OK It is upto HPUX to see which adapter first .. But I suppose this can be tackled.

I would try
man rmdev
man mksf

Regds,

Kapil

c10txdy
Now as far as x and y are concerned can be controlled by user but c10 is the instance number which is assigned by the SYstem.
To the best of my knowledge it is difficult or may be impossible to control the instance no.

Hi,

you can tweak controller instance numbers in /etc/ioinit by using
ioinit -f infile -r

Search this forum for procedures on ioinit and how to create the infile,

I strongly recommend you make sure you have a good recovery tape before you start.

Regards,
Bernhard
