Need some help getting rid of a alternate path that isn't really the alternate path but a second physical disk.

We moved scsi paths from 8/8 and 8/12 to 10/0 and 10/8. The original disk address for vg11 were c10t1d0 and c11t1d0. After importing vg11 it defined it as c2t1d0 and c10t1d0 with c10t1d0 being the alternate path. We are unable to get rid of the alternate path c10t1d0. To cloud the issue the new mirror device for vg11 is also named c10t1d0. We has verified with a dd to c2t1d0 and c10t1d0 that the physical disk.

When importing vg11 it states vg11 has two disk. But a lvdisplay on the lv only shows one. The vg shows c10 as the alternate path.

We have vgexported vg11, rmsf c2t1d0 & c10t1d0, rebooted etc. c10t1d0 still shows as alternate disk for vg11.

Have you tried doing a vgreduce to try and reduce the unwanted disk out of the VG? You could then try a vgextend and then an lvextend to remake the mirror.

Thats right, a alternate path can be extablished or removed using vgreduce command. Use vgreduce to remove the disk which is not required in that vg and then find the exact path of the disk (alternate path) and vgextend it.
