Hi,

What kind of HP-UX 11i do you have?
If you have "mission critical" you don't need any license.

Installing HP-UX on VxVM is quite similar to install on LVM. You only need to set VxVM on disk boot after started the installation mask (basic --> File system --> VxVM). If you go where you set the file system dimension you will find:

/dev/rootdg/lvolstand
/dev/rootdg/lvolopt

ect.

NB: you can do it only if you have VxVM 3.5

In this you you only change the disk management, all the other thing (netrwork ecc ) will last to work in the same way.
When you install HP-UX you have 2 options;

1. Install HP-UX with LVM
2. Install HP-UX using Veritas DG instead of LVM (for vg00).

Both work fine. Once you install Veritas you can still use HP LVM for other volume groups, or use veritas disk manager.
Hi,
What does you mean?
You could choose between two disk management: LVM
VxVM volume
manager

If you have VxVM 3.5 you can have boot disk managed by VxVM. For earlier version boot disk are LVM.
Let me know if I have understood your question.
Hi,

You got it right. I want to install HP-UX on VxVM instead of LVM. I have hp-ux 11i. DO I need any license for this??. I believe /stand need to be HFS. Does a VxVM DG can have HFS filesystem. I am still unclear about this. If possible could some one please list the steps/issues involved in installing HP-UX on VxVM.

Thanks
Karthik

Hi,
I think that it should be good too. Check if there is:
- base veritas
- VxVM 3.5 veritas volume
manager

If so you are ok.

Have a good day
