I have 18 disk that I have placed in a volume group. I am now trying to do a lvcreate but I want to stripe them in a 0/1 pattern. I have viewed the lvcreate man page but I did not see the flag for 0/1. What am I missing if anything?

Tim,

I agree - *IF* Ross has MirrorDisk/UX (if I understand you correctly, that is).

;^)

Pete

(* I think some of these guys are having some fun with you *)

IF you've got a VA7400 then don't use LVM stripping and expect better performance, expect worse performance. The disk array implements its own 'Autoraid' configuration and maps your data into raid 0/1 for you. And by adding LVM raid 0/1 on top of VA7400 raid 0/1 would aide you in what way?

Best performance in the VA7400 is achieved with one or two large luns and the 'Autoraid' selection.

See page 13 and 17 of 158 below.

http://h20015.www2.hp.com/content/common/manuals/lpg28817/lpg28817.pdf;jsessionid=GE2AGF4XMO5KPQEXGR5UOSQ

Search the ITRC for va7400 performance. Here's one link of many:

http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/QuestionAnswer/1,,0x7239eea29889d611abdb0090277a778c,00.html
