Hi,
1. Does Veritas VM 3.5 has "vmsa"??
2. What is the use of "/opt/VRTS/bin/vea" (linked to "/opt/VRTSob/bin/vea") ??

Because when I upgraded from Veritas 3.1 to 3.5 I could not find "vmsa" binary under "/opt/VRTSvmsa/bin". Is it because the product has not been installed properly??

Hi Karthik,

1)My VxVM 3.5 does not have a vmsa & it's installed correctly.

2) vea is the Veritas Enterprise Admin GUI from which you can perform maint on the local as well as remote server(s)

VxVM 3.5 dropped VMSA for VEA (Veritas Enterprise Administrator). It still looks and feels somewhat alike as the old VMSA that you've been accustomed to. VEA is now the GUI accross all platforms since Veritas now have the same versions accross the UNIX biggies - AIX, Solaris and HPUX. With VEA -- you can administer any other Veritas installation in the enterprise -- in the future, upcomng products will just plugin to VEA.

Say, what have your experiences been with Veritas VM on HPUX? Have you tried importing a Solaris DG on to a HPUX system yet?

Yep.. trying to 'settle' down in the HPUX world I might say...(from Solaris, Linux and AIX) .. and it's been "painless" yet.. Trying to share out whatever I could as I've been doing in the Solaris and Veritas worlds....
