I performed a new install of 11i from the December 2002 CD set. Everything comes up fine after booting. When I attempt to install additional applications, such as Mirror-UX, Online JFS, Auto-Port Aggregation, etc, I get errors on all 4 applications I am attempting. The applications CD is from December 2001. I was told by another admin that this shouldn't matter, but it seems like the dependencies would be diferent than the 2002 CD I used to install the OS. Do I need a new CD? Are there ways around it?

Thanks

The apps you have mentioned are licensed and require codewords that need to be purchaces from HP
What are the errors? Is the apps cd an 11i one? December 2001 cd's could just as well be 11.0 apps. What does the label on the cd say?

Pete

I have the codewords and entered them before attempting the install as I have in the past. Codewords match the CD number that I am using and are accepted without errors.

The CD number is 5012-0009.

I just tried again after reloading the OS (yet again) and had better luck. A message said that a kernel rebuild was required and the system would reboot after the install. The good news is that it appears to have actually installed Mirror-UX at this point; I'll see after it completes the reboot, then try installing another of the apps.

Sounds like you've got the right CD and codewords, then. The only suggestion I have is that December 2001 is kind of old - you'll want to update your patch levels for those products.

Good luck,
Pete

I got it to load OK this time around. Not sure what happened during the previous install, but something wasn't happy.

I will probably use the Custome Patch Manager (CPM) online to ensure that I get all applicable patches.

If the system is virgin, I'd do the install off the December 2002 Core OS CD. Then put the apps and codewords in off that media.

You will save a LOT of time patching your system.

SEP
