HP-UX forum? "networking"? Really?

Did you read the compiler installation
instructions? Did you follow them?

With vi(1). You take the 26 digit license value and paste it into the file.

But it would probably better to install aCC_link and not the Eval version of aC++.

Right, you should get this info when you download the Eval license.

i have not install any ac++ compiler i m installing PHSS_39824 but HP recomandation is PHSS_40631 but is giving instalation error. i m sending instalation error as attachment

HI:

First, PHSS_40631 supersedes PHSS_39824 so that's the reason for that recommedation.

Second, you *must* install or have installed HP aC++ A.06.20 since this is the product version to which this patch applies.

Third, you need PHSS_40633 since this is a dependency of PHSS_40631.

Information like this can be seen in the ITRC Patch Database by querying the patch notes.

You've got the answer twice:
Patches are for formerly installed software - no installed software no patch (needed)

So coming to your headline:

Is the installation script checking this patch or is it 'only' recommended in the installation guide?

If it's checked, then you have to (maybe buy and) install ac++.

I don't believe that you can force swinstall to install the patch without having installed the product first.

If you aren't doing any aC++ development then you don't need compiler patches. If you are just using the compiler to install E business apps, that's different.

No, HP recommends you install A.06.25 then install A.06.25.01, PHSS_41187.

I have installed the Evaluation version.

But I am trying to install patches

PHSS_40633

PHSS_40631

Am I getting same error described by at the beginning of the case.

Oracle report a warning for the the PHSS_40633 and PHSS_40631

"OS Patch PHSS_40633 is recommended but not installed"

"OS Patch PHSS_40631 is recommended but not installed"

In my case will be because I have the evaluation version the reason I can not install the patches?

Any particular reason?

If you do, you can't apply PHSS_40631, since A.06.26 is newer than A.06.24.

Basically you need to ignore what Oracle says when it doesn't make sense.

That's correct. The Eval version is newer than those patches AND you can't patch the Eval version.
