topic Java performance on HP-UX Itanium and Windows xeon in Operating System - HP-UX

I would like to know if there exist some benchmarks comparing these two families of processors, OS's and performance of 64-bit Java. I read that Itanium RISC is superior to xeon but both are comparable now.

Are there major Java applications being deployed on HP-UX Itanium ?

Thanks.

If you believe there is any mileage in looking at standard benchmarks then you should probably look at SPECjbb2005 and SPECjAppServer2004 on the www.spec.org web site. These are benchmarks based on Java. Of course the best thing to do is actually test your own application.

If all you care about is performance then you will probably best look at Xeon. Of course buying decisions need to take a lot more into account... RAS features, development and performance tools etc... on those the HP-UX/Itanium platform probably wins out.

ANd yes, there are plenty of Java based apps deployed on HP-UX/Itanium.
