Thank you. I guess that story of slowness came from the install of the old release that we are currently on.

FYI,
I checked SUM and can't get it without the media.

Thanks again for your help.

My DBA has given me "Oracle E-Business Suite Installation and Upgrade Notes Release 12 (12.1.1) for HP-UX PA-RISC" in preparation for the upgrade. (We are running 11.23.) I have found that aCC_link is supposed to be on the application media starting sometiem in 2008, but although I have full HW and SW support from HP, I am lazy about ordering the various DVD sets since we "never" use them.

From what I understand, the only time the DBA needs the aCC/C++ items is when she is upgrading to new versions. We don't use it for development. But she says that if she has it, the install goes faster, and since the upgrade will take most of a weekend, faster may be a big deal.

So, based on all of that, do we get any advantage if we have aCC_link installed? And if so, is there a way that I can download it without needing to order the media?

Thanks in advance,
Paul

>the only time the DBA needs the aCC/C++ items is when she is upgrading to new versions

Right. The purpose of aCC_link is to install applications like Oracle E-Business Suite.

>if she has it, the install goes faster,

I'm not sure how "faster" is involved. If you don't have it, you are dead in the water. (Unless Oracle offers some Plan B?)

>is there a way that I can download it

Not sure. Possibly through the SUM program? See "Software Update Manager" link to the left

>I checked SUM and can't get it without the media.

There is a e-Delivery program provide electronic media for HP-UX media. Note sure if that covers the Application media too?

I guess that's for 11.31 only:
http://h20338.www2.hp.com/hpux11i/us/en/products/hpux11iv3-edelivery.html

Paul,

If you log a call with the response centre, you *might* be able to convince an RC engineer to drop the acc_link software on a temporary HP FTP site for you.

HTH

Ducnan
