    <description>Hi,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;When I try to remove a logical volume with the command: lvremove -f /dev/vg01/lvol1, HP-UX 11.00 says "The specified logical volume is open, or a sparing operation is in progress"&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;The command: fuser -u /dev/vg01/lvol1 says "/dev/vg01/lvol1:"&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;The command: lsof /dev/vg01/lvol1 says nothing.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;vgdisplay -v /dev/vg01 says that /dev/vg01/lvol1 is in volume group vg01.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;TIA</description>

      <description>The "sparing operation in progress" error tells me you probably got LVM hot sparing configured in one of the physical disk in VG01. &lt;BR /&gt;What's the output of these .. &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;# vgdisplay -v vg01 &lt;BR /&gt;# lvdisplay -v /dev/vg01/lvol1&lt;BR /&gt;# pvdislay -v &lt;OF-ALL-THE-DISK-IN-VG01&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Later,&lt;BR /&gt;Bill&lt;/OF-ALL-THE-DISK-IN-VG01&gt;</description>

      <description>I don't have MirrorDisk so can verify if this will work,&lt;BR /&gt;but, &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;pvchange -z n /dev/dsk/c0t5d0&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;then continue on.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;man pvchange for more.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Later,&lt;BR /&gt;Bill</description>

      <description>okay, forget my comments,&lt;BR /&gt;I suggest booting into lvmmaintenance mode&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;ISL&amp;gt; hpux -lm&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;# vgchange -a y vg00&lt;BR /&gt;# mount -a&lt;BR /&gt;(forget vg01 errors)&lt;BR /&gt;# vgchange -a y vg01&lt;BR /&gt;# lvremove /dev/vg01/lvol1&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;That's gotta work!&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Later,&lt;BR /&gt;Bill&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;</description>
