file size limit

Hi admin

We have hp-ux 10.20 s800, we enabled on volume for large file by the following command

# fsadm ???F hfs ???o largefile /dev/vg01/rlvol2

But still when we transfer file more than 2GB it is give us error.

Can you please help us

hi..

normally in 10.x for making large files u have to install HP's Online JFS ..then only u can do this.

fstyp -v /dev/vgxx/lvolX

check for f_flag in the o/p
if it is 16 ur file sys is largefiles enabled..or else not.

Hi,

You seem to have a syntax error in your command - it should be "largefiles", not "largefile".

Else, try enabling large files through SAM.
SAM--> Disk and Filesystems --> Select the filesystem --> Selct Action --> Modify --> Modify vxfs default /parameters --> set the flag largefiles on , Select Ok and exit.

Also remember to re-mount with the 'largefiles' option.

hi
the command was correct ???largefiles??? and it show me output that it is modifying the logical volume.
But the file transfer did not work.
we try with sam but I did not find the option in 10.20, but found it in 11.00

what does

fsadm /dev/vg00/rlvol2 show??

does it display largefiles option is set?

Maybe the problem is due to command used.

Which command do you use to transfer the file ?

Some commands aren't able to handle big files

Is the file you are trying to copy > 2GB and < 4GB?

thank you all.

the problem was with customer app.

what we did we create file with size more than two 2G in the unix live and it work.

Hi:

You need check this file and check /etc/fstab. And modify this and remount the filesystem.

If you try make a copy with the nfs you need check if the nfs version that you run allow the largefile !
