Moving 12H from D390 to L2000

Hi,

I need to move 12H autoraid from D390
to L2000, can I do vgexport using map
files and do vgimport on L2000 and get
the data back or not?. I have done
this in past when I reloaded os on the
same system but not with different
system. Help will be appreciated.

Should work fine with a map file.
just remember to create the VG dir and control file first.

Thanks for quick reply I just wanted to make sure going from one system to another system is same as going to different O.S on the same system.

Hi Mike:

One gotcha is that thr 12H requires HVD SCSI and the L-box unless you have installed other controllers in LVD SCSI. The vgimport will work just fine though you will have to remember that what was c2 for example may now be c5.

Hi Clay,

You said something about controller but if I am using vgimport with map file then what will be the problem? If I do the following command that will keep trac of VGID then do I still need to worry about the c2 and c5 (controllers)
vgexport -s -p -m -v vg02.mymap /dev/vg02.

Hi Mike,

Long before you worry about the software side of this with vgimport (which will work just fine) what I am trying to tell you is that you may have a hardware problem. Unless you have HVD SCSI controllers (A4800A - single port; or A5159A - dual port) installed you can't do anything. You have to make sure that both the 12H and your L-box are properly and safely connected.
