      <description>No.  As far as I know you can run vgscan without unmounting your filesystems.</description>

      <description>No. Make a copy of /etc/lvmtab before doing it though, just in case you want to go back or look at the previous LVM config file.</description>

      <description>It is not must, you can do it without umount. However, if /etc/lvmtab is destroyed, donot use vgscan to re-construct /etc/lvmtab if the system is heavily loaded by an application.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>Hi,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;No you do not need unmount the filesystem, but if i were you, keep a back up of the existing /etc/lvmtab, Also run vgscan -v -p (in preview mode) (to check everything is ok)before recreating the lvmtab file.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;-Regards&lt;BR /&gt;Ramesh</description>
