Copy printers from four server to one

We are moving applications from four HP servers to one RP7410. Every server have now own printer and user setups. Is it possible to collect printer setups to one server?

Yes if you have unique names and the netwrok is acessible by the sigle server where you will be moving the printers to. Man lpmove or look at this document:

Hi,

When you move the printers you have to check that the printers are configured on which device files. How are the old printers on the 4 servers configured ??

Can you tell us the exact setup of the printers on your old server. You can use the lpmove command also.

Yes, you can transfer the printers. There is a command "transferqueue" in hp-ux to transfer the queues. For details look at "man transferqueue".

All printers are normal remote printers.

When I use /usr/sam/lbin/lpmgr -R -savedir=/var/tmp/printers
it overwrites old printer settings, so I could not combine printer setups from four old servers.

The command "transferqueue" is not an HPUX command. It is a jetadmin/jetdirect printer installer command. You have to have one of these products installed to run the command. It sounds like you are not using either of these products now. (Maybe?) If so, download the jetdirect printer installer for HPUX and install. Then you can use the command "transferqueue hostname" to get the queues moved over.
