If at some point in the past someone had mirror/ux installed, then removed it, you reinstalling it should not require a reboot. Under HP-UX 11 the need for a reboot has been removed completely even for new installs of mirror/ux.

For 10.20 you need the latest LVM commands cumulative patch; PHCO_18563 to ensure mirror/ux is stable (and any dependencies it has).

Hi There,

I was just wondering if anyone had come across a situation where the system has NOT reboted and rebuilt the kernel after installing the mirrordisk/ux SW?

Also are there any patches that if not present would cause the mirroring/LVM to crash/fail.

HP-UX 10.20 D330
2 x 4GB disks

System probably not fully patched

Hi Ross:

Did you do an interactive 'swinstall' and was it "successful" (check the sw logs)?

I would also check the patch state, in general, with:

# swlist -l fileset -a state|grep -v "#"

Make sure all software is "configured".

...JRF...
