I am trying to install a networked Konica 7030 multifunction printer on a K210 server. Konica says that I cannot use JetAdmin or Printer Installer to create the queue and I have tried it anyway with no success. I have been told that there is a way to install printers from the command line, but I have never done it. Any ideas?

Thanks in advanced

Hi,

You can do whatever Shiju told.

Find the device file of the printer port by
ioscan -fn | grep lp

and use that device file.

Make sure that you dont have any printer configured on the printer port which you are using by

lpstat -t

If no printers are configured on the same printer port then you can use the command gicen by Shiju

Piyush

Hi Jennifer,

Hp-Ux does not support a third party network printer as a standalone network printer with or without jetadmin. The only way to connect a third party network printer is configure the printer loaclly on another system and then configure the same as a remote printer on the hp-ux server.

Hp-ux os does not support third party network printer.

Hope this helps.

Regds
Jenifer,

For you best bet is to install the Konica printer with a Print Server or with a NT system and then configure that as a remote printer.

Look at the following thread. I also faced the same problem with Xerox Printer.

http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/QuestionAnswer/1,,0xa7e9ff77de2bd611abd50090277a778c,00.html

Sandip

I hope this clears things up a bit:

HP JetDirect cards (and protocol) are unique to HP. However, the JetDirect cards will also accept remote-printer requests (remote printer as defined in SAM). The discovery process used by Web JetAdmin will only find HP network printers.

Non-HP printers with network cards all use a remote printer protocol. You can add any popular network printer as a remote printer (not network printer). Before you start, you'll need to know the 'internal' name of the printer inside the LAN adapter. For JetDirect , there are two: text and raw.

Ask the manufacturer what the card's internal printer name(s) might be.
