There is much guidance about upgrades in the User Guide for Serviceguard - 'Managing Serviceguard'. Look at the version of Serviceguard you are using located here:

www.hp.com/go/hpux-serviceguard-docs -> HP Serviceguard -> User Guide (http://bizsupport2.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c03252991/c03252991.pdf)

For example, HP Managing Serviceguard A.11.20 - (March 2012) has Appendix D Software Upgrades. You can update the OS Fusion version (using update-ux) and optionally also update the Serviceguard version at the same time. You can do this with Serviceguard Rolling Upgrade (keep the cluster running and update each Serviceguard node at a time); Or you can do an offline upgrade which means shutdown the cluster, upgrade the nodes (OS fusion and/or Serviceguard), then bring the cluster back up again.

In either case, Dynamic Root Disk Utilities are recommended because they allow you to do the upgrade on a cloned boot (inactive) disk. Overall, this can make the upgrade go quicker, and also give you a safe path back to the original starting point, if something doesn't work as expected.

[Please note that now we write: "Serviceguard", rather than "Service Guard", or "ServiceGuard"]

If you are not sure about the MC Service guard upgradation then i would suggest that divide the activity in 2 phase, dont do it parelle. First upgrade the OS with the same MC Serviceguard version and later upgrade MC Serviceguard.

Regards,
Chirag Parikh
