bad magic

launching SAM results in core dump:
/usr/sbin/sam[221]: 1618 Memory fault(coredump)

Trying to launch glance:
# glance
/usr/lib/dld.sl: Bad magic number for shared library: /opt/perf/lib/libxcurses.1
/usr/lib/dld.sl: Exec format error
Abort(coredump)

I brought the system up into single user mode
and "fsck" all the f/s's, yet is still bombs out. O/S level is 10.20. Any suggestions besides reload?

Hi,

I think that your root harddisk has developed bad sectors.

Pls run this command and check :

dd if=/dev/rdsk/c1t0d0 of=/dev/null bs=512k

if inputs=output then no problems. Or else your disk has gone bad. Be prepared for changing it and reloading the OS. ....backup time

Hi Randy,

Try this,

ll -d /lib

Make sure /lib is linked to /usr/lib, if not

cd /
ln -s /usr/lib lib

Hi Randy:

See if you have 'opt/perf/lib/libxcurses.1'. If so, it's permissions should look like:

-r-xr-xr-x 1 root bin 409600 Mar 16 1999 /opt/perf/lib/libxcurs
es.1

Do a:

# file /opt/perf/lib/libxcurses.1

...See if this returns:

/opt/perf/lib/libxcurses.1: s800 shared library -not stripped

I did end up updating the LIBC Cumulative patch, but I'm still having the same problems.

James:
The file libxcurses.1 returns:

# file libx*
libxcurses.1: awk program text

Instead of "shared executable".

When I installed the patch I got the following
error messages: (see attached file)

But.....

The patch did install... but I still get the
core dump using SAM and errors similar to those
during the patch install when I do a "swlist".
