HPUX 11i and L40 tape library

Hi all,
I working on a HP-UX 11.11 system. We are connected to a Storagetek L40 with two Ultrium LTO1 drives. The ioscan returns all drives claimed and with device files.
There is output of ioscan:

The problem is that when we try to use the 'mt' command to controlling the robotics of a tabe library we get:
mc -p /dev/rac/c80t0d0 -q
ERROR: No such device

I have recreated the device files, also rebooted tape library and fibrechannel switch but i have still the same error.

What's up with this?

Hi,

1)Are you sure that Typical to the Tape Library there is nothing else left to be configured on the Tape Library itself?

2)please post the O/Ps of all the commands as i have said here.

With the ioscan showing all the Changer, XL2 Driver and the Tapr Drives (just wish to confirm if the Tape Library is Directly attached or is Connected using the SAN Switch Fabric), though it seems that it is connected using the SAN Swicth and if so Zoning also seems to be OK as the Drives and the changer Showing CLAIMEDin the ioscan.
i would like to have few O/ps from the 11.11 system thiugh not come across any Seagate TL.

try loading a media in both the Drives of the Library simultaneously and after the TL being steady after loading of the media and on both the drives simultaneously.
#mt -t /dev/rmt/3m rewind
#mt -t /dev/rmt/3m status
#mt -t /dev/rmt/4m rewind
#mt -t /dev/rmt/4m status

#tar cvf /dev/rmt/3m /home
#tar cvf /dev/rmt/4m /home

Also there are some patches for the Tachyon Driver that you can check and install them.

Shalom,

Before a tape device will respond to commands, the stape driver must be compiled into the kernel requiring a reboot.

stape

Get it in, and follow the prompt to recompile and reboot your machine.

Thanks for your replay,

1. I think that i configured everythink on the Tape Library.
2. Tape Library is connecting by SCSI through Storagetek SN3300 router and then use FC interface to server rp4440.
I don't have problem with use both tape drives. I can write to tapes and read from all of them. I cant't only used mc command for controlling the robotics of a tape library.

I load to kernel schgr and sctl device drivers. All of the paches from your list are applied.
