Problem with X-win 32 and HP-UX 11v1

hello guys, im trying to connect to a workstation with 11v1, and it gets connected but doesnt allow me to enter in the CDE mode, only to a Filesafe Session, can somebody help me out?

Shalom,

Normally this is permissions on the .dt directories or files or the font server is hung or not running.

Check /etc/rc.config.d/xfs

See if the daemon is configured to start.

/sbin/init.d/xfs start

After changing the figure to 1.

/sbin/init.d/xfs restart

Dennis: i ran dr_dt and appears 0 errors but 9 warnings, where can i see the warning log?

Steven: what are the right permissions for the .dt files and folders? 777?

i changed the value of xfs to 1, but seems its not working via x-win 32 yet, do i need to reboot?

notice that on the workstation itself CDE is available for all the users.

Please try running fslsfonts to check that your HP-UX server has all required fonts. fslsfonts is located in /usr/contrib/bin/X11 on HP-UX 11.11 systems.

$ /usr/contrib/bin/X11/fslsfonts -server your_hpux_server:7000

Check if CDE fonts and fixed font appear in the output. If not, double check font server config file (/etc/X11/fs/config) on your HP-UX server.

Here is an example.

$ fslsfonts -server :7000 -fn fixed
fixed fixed fixed

$ fslsfonts -server :7000 -fn '-dt*' | head

the weird thing is that on the server works the CDE, but not while i connect through the X Win 32 (XDMCP)

It is that you are able to get the CDE login prompt, but unable to login via particular user

Is yes, check if you facing issue with only root or all other non-root user.
Create a new user and check.

check the emulator setting tab called Input and see for a box which says "Enable XKeyboard extension". Uncheck that box and check

ok i unchecked the box of Xkeyboard.
i created a new user and its still the same

it recognizes my login, but it appears the message that shows in the image im attaching, check it out.

Did you check for /etc/hosts file

Are you able to do nslookup to IP address and hostname

# nslookup
# nslookup

Also does /etc/nsswitch.conf exists
If not, please create via

# cp /etc/nsswitch.files /etc/nsswitch.conf

If it exists, then temporarily let the following entry be

hosts : files
ipnodes: files

On the NSSWITCH issue, the file didnt exist, so i copied it as you told me and added the lines, then it didnt show me the login prompt, so i deleted the file and we are on the same status.

Add the following in /etc/hosts

10.194.0.170 CHHUX170.XXXXXXXXXXX(deleted by user's request) CHHUX170

### See that you dont have multiple entries for the IP address 10.194.0.170

Copy /etc/nsswitch.files to /etc/nsswitch.conf

Edit the above file
MAke the entry as follows

hosts : files dns

>> Then check via login.

done that, without luck... i guess there is not a problem with my network configuration because i installed Ximian GNOME and worked with X-Win 32, it could be something related to CDE or X11... any suggestions with that?
