Yes it is possible. Have a look at the documentation: Designing High Availability Solutions with HP Serviceguard and HP Integrity Virtual Machines

http://docs.hp.com/en/10560/IntegrityVM_HA_Solutions-SGandVM.pdf

Yes it can be on the same physical system, but it means you will not survive when your hardware goes down, so it is not a good option. It will only help you ın case of software/OS problems.
This is more for a learning purpose. As I have never tried this activity before. Moreover, there is a lack of h/w resources. That's why I am trying to figure out what might be possible in a spare vpar of SD32B.

I just want to try out a basic cluster configuration

Pls suggest.

installing VM is not possible on VPar . so its not possible in this case . if you are only trying install the cluster than you can try single node cluster . This is only if you have never installed any cluster

I never really had a chance to install the simplest cluster. Pls guide me on trying with a single-cluster node. Resource available with me is
just 1 vpar of the SD32.

I am really getting appreciable input from u guys. Thanks!

which verison of HPVM you are using?
well download the admin guide from docs.hp.com and there is a capter on how to use service guard with integrity VM.
there are a couple of ways to configure

1) SG comprises of 2 or more VM in same physical box.
2)configuring VMs as package and SG at host level.
for this hpvmsg_package is the script for HPVM 4.1

BR,
Kapil+
