Our application is experiencing run time problems when executing within Aries on HP 11.23/Itanium. The application has been built on HP 11.11/PA-RISC. Does anyone know if:

1. Is this configuration (i.e., Build on HP 11.11/PA-RISC and run on HP 11.23/Itanium with Aries) a configuration that is certified by HP?

2. Are there any issues known to HP with using this build/execute configuration?

thx in advance
Hi:

You don't offer an explanation (details) of "run time problems".

The Aries manpages document potential performance limitations and general application requirements:

http://docs.hp.com/en/B3921-60631/ARIES.5.html

Regards!

...JRF...

Aries is a pretyy specialist area - you may not find too many on the forums with much specialist knowledge. Nevertheless as James indicated you could start by describing the problesm you are having.

The support statement for Aries is here:

http://h71028.www7.hp.com/ERC/downloads/4AA1-7766ENW.pdf

I'd laso direct you to the main site for Aries information:

http://www.hp.com/go/aries

Note that patches have been releaed in the last month that should be applied. Details on the link above.

HTH

Duncan

Shalom,

At my prior employer a series of tests were run using their applications under the ARIES emulation.

The performance hit was 70% versus a recompile of the application on Itanium.

SEP

>Our application is experiencing run time problems

Performance or correctness?
Have you contacted the Response Center yet?

>1. Is this configuration (i.e., Build on 11.11 and run on 11.23/Integrity with Aries) a configuration that is certified by HP?

Naturally, otherwise what good would it be? See Duncan's links for exceptions.

Good day,

PA-RISC HP-UX 11i v1 compiled user space applications would work fine under ARIES emulation on HP-UX 11i v2 and v3 on Integrity servers.

What kind of runtime issues you are facing with ARIES - correctness or performance? As a first step I would recommend latest HP-UX 11i v2 OE and QPK bundles and latest ARIES patches (PHSS_38526 for HP-UX 11.23). For initial triaging I would suggest ARIES troubleshooting page:

http://h21007.www2.hp.com/portal/site/dspp/menuitem.863c3e4cbcdc3f3515b49c108973a801/?ciid=c935c7b31d779110VgnVCM100000275d6e10RCRD

Regards
-Rajesh
