SAM freezes.

I have a good one for you. When using SAM for those tasks that require it, it will permit access into the gui about three levels deep before it locks. Even such simple things as creating a logical volume in an existing LVM vg seize up. Never mind licensed VxVM builds.

Servers range from N classes to rx7640s. Three running 11.11, the rest 11.23.

Has anyone seen anything like this? Some servers are running latest SAM patches, some aren't. Same, same.

Always disk related tasks? I have to wonder if you don't have an NFS problem or a bad disk somewhere. Anything in the diagnostic logs? Have you checked dmesg for any (possibly) related errors?

If you have a large SAN it could take a long, long time to finish.

No, not just for disk related functions. In fact, I rarely use SAM for that. Similar problems in APA. Buttons required at top of GUI just don't work after third level or so.

Clearly a disk is dying or you have a device being detected as a disk that is not. You may have a problem with a SAN being detected as LUN0 because no LUN0 is presented to the current system.

Do these same hangs occur in SAM when you use the "terminal" interface? In the far, far past, I recall getting some squinchy behaviour when using the X/Motif-based GUI that never occurred with the non-graphical version of SAM.

i've also seen sam (terminal and xwindow) get squirrely when the GNU versions of "grep" were on the system and in the path before the ones in the std distribution... may be unrelated to your issue however.

Things to remember here. I have 20+ HP boxes ranging from N classes to relatively new and powerful rx boxes. All showing same symptoms.

TUI shows pretty much the same limits as GUI. Latest SAM patches on board, but tested before I finished loading the rest - no joy.

One source? ignite?
What's about other patches - ldd/linker?
'relatively new' - do you have support?
Have you opened a call?

No, the systems aren't set up from a uniform source. They vary too much for that. Relatively new - November. Linker patches, latest. We do have support, a ticket has been opened and info has been pumped up to levels so high they need breathing apparatus. I was hoping that some of you would have encountered something like this in your day-to-day.

ITRC seems to be a little pigheaded. I may have to come back later and assign points to some of you. It doesn't seem to want to play nice just now.
