Hi Nina,

non- trusted system:

boot in single user mode, manually boot, interact with IPL, enter hpux -is then.
You won't have to enter a password then.

trusted system with secured console:

jumper another SCSI- device to the same SCSI- target number as your boot- disk.
This causes a SCSI- error, which automatically resests your console.

Allways stay on the bright side of life!

Peter

By old I assume that you mean 10.20... if the box is not trusted you should be able to reboot into single user mode and then change the root password. If it is trusted you may be required to supply the root password to get in...

Hope you can get in...

GL,
C

If the system is trusted, use vi on /tcb/files/auth/r/root and remove the line with u_pwd. This will remove the password for root. Login as root and use passwd to set a new password for root. If you don't have a psuedo root account, you will have to do this in single user node. In that case just use passwd to reset the password.

Now user hpux -is to start on single user.
When you have got prompt on single user mode, you can change the root password.

If your system is trusted system, you have to do the same above and then delete the password on file /tcb/files/auth/r/root.

I hope this help you.

Please, do not forget the points for us.

Thanks in advance.

Juanma.
