      <description>I would say one of:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;i) You have no tape in the drive /dev/rmt/0m&lt;BR /&gt;ii) You have no drive /dev/rmt/0m&lt;BR /&gt;iii) You have the kernel parameter st_san_safe set to 1 and this prevents you from opening "rewind on close" device files like /dev/rmt/0m.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;HTH&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Duncan</description>

      <description>As said, no tape in drive.&lt;BR /&gt;Or an other device name related to tapedrive must be used.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;"ioscan" with suitable parameters should give you the tapedevice filename.&lt;BR /&gt;Ensure that tar can backup and restore from the drive first.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;If your effective devicename differs, you need to setup the correct values in file&lt;BR /&gt;/oracle/RD1/DEV/102_64/dbs/initDEV.sap.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Btw.: This looks a bit like a scrambled setup compared to the standard.&lt;BR /&gt;ORACLE_HOME for DEV should be&lt;BR /&gt;/oracle/DEV/102_64&lt;BR /&gt;Second: you should not use SCRATCH as the actual volume name for a real backup.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Volker</description>
