topic VG activation problem!! in Operating System - HP-UX

hello,

we have two node HP SG/SGeRAC cluster. On the primary machine the vg_rac (shared VG) is not coming up in shared mode. It is only coming up in read only mode. This VG is up and running on second node. We also have the mirroring on this VG.

When we try to activate this VG using package or using vgchange -a s vg_rac, it says the "Quorum not present, or some PV is missing". I have created the new lvmtab also imported the VG but no success. I think there is some information regarding the disk with the kernel. I went thru the similar thread on thi forum and the resolution was to insatll the patch PHKL_30607 and PHKL_31216.

Anyone can help in this>? Is there any superseded patch for this, becuase that may be installed on our system.

Thanks in advance,

Regards,
Amit

Hi,

I just provided that link to check the superseded patch details.

However, the error "Quorum not present, or some PV is missing" indicates that there are some disks missing on the node where you try to activate the VG.

Check if all the disks part of the VG is visible from the both the node by ioscan.
Check with storage people that the luns are presented to both nodes.

If everything is ok, take the map file using -s option with vgexport on the working node and import it on the other node.
