I have rx4640 running HP-UX. I would like to configure 2-node clustering. Do I require identical box for clustering?

Jiten,
Different models can be mixed in
the same cluster. This configuration model also applies to HP Integrity
servers. HP-UX workstations are not supported for Serviceguard.

Hi Jiten,

For HP-UX MCSG Cluster Installation you need the 2 Server with Same Configuration.

You Can use different models to configure the Cluster.

Shalom,

No you do not need identical boxes for clustering. You need the same OS on both nodes, but you can even cluster with a PA-RISC box as the second node.

If both nodes are rx class boxes you can also install Red Hat Enterprise Linux for IA-64/Itanium/IPF on both nodes and use Red Hat Cluster Suite. Both systems would need iLo or some other supported fecning method to function normally in production.

There is ServiceGuard for Linux but 11.19 is the last release for Linux on that software platform.

I think Serviceguard is a better option, but the licensing will be more expensive. HP-UX is what I would chose to run on this hardware.

Hi Jiten,

It is not mendetory to ve same boxes for cluster configuration.

Minimum requirements

1]Same OS version with identical configuration.

2]Same Lun should be assign to both nodes from same storage.
