topic ASM instance directly on LUN in Operating System - HP-UX

I am doing SGeRAC 11.16, HP-UX 11.11, Oracle10g RAC.

I would like to place ASM instance directly on a LUN (/dev/rdsk/c*t*d*). I don't want to use SLVM for this purpose.

I just want to check whether it is supported by HP/SGeRAC ?

I have done this by placing RAC ASM instance on /dev/rdsk/c*t*d*.

Initially the ASM RAC instance started on all nodes, but after some time, the ASM RAC instance is dying in one of the node, and if start ASM RAC instance manually on that node, i am getting bellow error.

./srvctl start instance -d asmracdb -i asmracdb1
PRKP-1001 : Error starting instance asmracdb1 on node arnage
CRS-1028: Dependency analysis failed because of:
CRS-0223: Resource 'ora.asmracdb.asmracdb1.inst' has placement error.

If you are just trying the asm instance you can start it "outside" of the RAC.

export ORACLE_SID=<YOURASMINSTANCE>
export ORACLE_HOME=<ORACLE_HOME_OF_ASM>
sqlplus
startup

Regards</ORACLE_HOME_OF_ASM></YOURASMINSTANCE>

why do you want to combine to TWO RAC products?? ASM and SGeRAC
