x-windows log-in hp-ux 11i v3

hello all,

I'm trying to activate the cde login for my hp-ux 11i v3 rx3600 server. I set the run level to 4 and rebooted my server to no avail. it just gives me the text login prompt. how and where do i set to get a cde login screen or x-windows for my server for that matter?

There is nothing currently larger than 3.

CDE doesn't get installed by default on 11.31. See these threads:

Hi,
I think you are asking about GUI login.
Please read carefully You will resolve your query.

#cd /sbin/init.d
# ./dtlogin.rc start

Now you restart your machine,
you will get normal bootup not Text mode.

With the release of HP-UX 11iv3, there were some changes made to the install bundles.
There are now three main bundles,, namely:
Always Installed
Recommended and
Optional

CDE is no longer in the automatically installed bundles, it is the Optional Software list, you need to specifically select the CDE software to install it

thank you all. installed cde bundle from the dvd and cde started.
