How about sending the email to the vendor and a CC: to the outlook user ????

No configuration changes needed, no special software.

We currently send emails from our hp-ux using sendmail to vendors and would like the sent email to be accessible by the sender in Outlook.

This naturally means that we need to either send the mail through our MS exchange server from the HP-UX (which I would need to learn), or we need to copy the mail onto the Exchange server (which I would need to learn).

If this is possible, I would really appreciate if someone lets me know how to do it.

hi,

i think what you need is smart host configuration. so you'll be able to send mails through that exchange server.

Hi:

I would agree with Kenan. Configure the "smart relay" macro in '/etc/mail/sendmail.cf'. Make sure that your DNS works and you should be able to do:

# mailx -s "My Messsage" root,t.jamal@xyz.com < /dev/null

...to send messages to your server and to your Windows Exchange server, given that your 'DS' macro looks something like:

DSexcpap.xyz.com

Regards!

...JRF...

Other than someone being able to review the outlook mail logs setting the DS macro would not fulfill the second option.

>>We currently send emails from our hp-ux using sendmail to vendors and would like the sent email to be accessible by the sender in Outlook.

To send to vendor and ALSO to allow an outlook user to see that email.

This is the way I interprited his requirement.

Tim you are 100% correct, we want the email to show up in their sent email folder, therefore allowing them to see what they've sent.

Shalom,

Clearly I'm missing something.

I would do this:

1) permit mail relay on the exchange server from the hpux host
2) Set up sendmail.cf to do DS smart host mail relay forward.
DShostname.exhange.server
3) Restart sendmail. /sbin/init.d/sendmail restart

SEP
