HPUX 11.31 IA python installed but giving errors

I have a server running hpux 11.31 on an itanium server. I went to the HP software download site and downloaded ixPython_A.14.00-2.6.4.004_HP-UX_B.11.23_IA_PA.depot. This is the name of the file under hpux11.31. I installed the depot on the server. When I test the installation I get the following error.

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "QCPythonInstallValidation.py", line 1, in
from ctypes import *
File "/opt/iexpress/python/lib/python2.6/ctypes/__init__.py", line 10, in
from _ctypes import Union, Structure, Array
ImportError: No module named _ctypes

Any help would be much appreciated. I cannot seem to find ctypes for hpux.

Shalom,

Internet Express packages are usually pretty well tested and include all dependencies.

So:
Check:

Environment variables. SHLIB_PATH specficically
Actual python code for errors.
Report the behavior to HP as a possible bug.
