      <description>You can create thousands and thousands of variables. However, like any 32bit program, the data that you assign to each variable must be stored in memory and ksh is limited to about 900 MB of local memory. Similarly, you can assign a single variable dozens of megabytes of data, in which case you can only create a few that are very large before exceeding local memory limits.</description>
