Ditto Dennis.

From all the reading, I can only assume that it has something to do with NFS. I will kill it on one of my test systems and see what happens there.

DJ

Morning All, (at least it's morning here in SA)

I have noticed this process running on some of my systems and not on others.

Can anyone tell me what this daemon is used for? - want to know if I can kill it and prevent it from starting up again.

TIA

David

Since you don't know what it does and there is no man page for it, it is best to leave it alone.

I suppose you could grep /etc/inittab and /sbin/init.d/* for krpckd.

>ME: I suppose you could grep /etc/inittab and /sbin/init.d/*

I couldn't find it. I did notice that its PPID is 0, so this is started by the kernel and not INIT.
