Rename the Cluster and Package Configuration files.

Hi,

Can any one tell me about my following query

1. rename my cluster configuration file
from config.ascii to cmclconfig.ascii

2. rename my cluster package
configuration files like pkg.control to
pkg.control.script

for doing this i need to halting the package
and cluster

if renaming is possible can we do it online or i need to take halt the package and the cluster ?

Hi,

Well my first though is why bother? Unless this is one of many other clusters which doesn't fit with your standard, the names of these files don't really matter.

The cluster config file isn't actually used by the cluster once the cmapplyconf is run so you can just go ahead and rename the file to cmclconfig.ascii if you want.

The control scripts are refernced in the package conf file, so changing that will change the package defintion. THe table here:

Describes what you can and can't do online.

Note that your situation isn't actually covered, only changing the *contents* of the control script is covered.

So my gut feeling is that you could probably do it online, but to be careful, you might want to stop the package while you make the change. The steps are covered slightly further up the page:

Remember to rename the package control script on all cluster nodes that can run the package.

Hi,
To change the cluster configuration file and the pkg control script cannot change online.You can change online but it will effected when you halt the cluster and start the cluster again.
