K380 supports 11.0/64. I think to do an upgrade for firmware you need to contact HP and have a HP Rep in side to do it. I am not aware about firmware available on line.

To check the firmware, you can use Diagnostics. For ipl/isl it is also shown when you reboot the OS.

To see if your box supports 32 or 64, go on sam->system proprieties->processor and look at: Kernel Width Support. or check the manual. (use #model command to get info and check the docs for your specs.)

Hi:

I believe that PDC code is only done by a field engineer. I'd place a hardware call to arrange an upgrade.
I don't think the firmware version determines whether you can run 32 or 64 bit. It is the type of processor that determines that.

Check the following URL for a table of systems and whether or not they support 64-bit HP-UX 11.0
Yes, you can download the latest firmware for your K380 from the ITRC. Go to Home -> individual patches -> Firmware patches, Select all the boxes (disk/tape etc.) then do a search for K380 (descriptive) and it should list the following firmware update file;
PF_CBHK3943
You can then download it.

Your K380 will support 64 bit OS but you may need a firmware upgrade in order to be able to install the 64bit version. If you do the following command;
getconf HW_CPU_SUPP_BITS
and it returns only 32 (as it did on some of our K-class) then you know you need to install the latest firmware before you can install 11.0-64bit.

You can do the firmware upgrade yourself (ive done loads), but if it goes wrong your mainboard will need replacement and HP will not be happy about it, so be safe and book an engineer. Once youve downloaded the firmware you should follow the instructions to create a bootable tape for the firmware upgrade (for the engineer).
The Kx80 supports 64bit HP-UX with the initial PDC version. Nevertheless it's good to have the firmware up to date. Decide if you want HP to update the firmware or pull it from the ITRC and update it yourself. It's no big deal, but if you fail, you have to kiss the systemboard good bye
