hi friends,
downloded HP C/aC++ Developer's Bundle for Evaluation software and tried to install by
#/usr/sbin/swinstall -s $PWD/B9007AAEVAL_.depot B9007AAEVAL .

* The Analysis Phase succeeded.

then the installation failed with the following error.

* Beginning the Install Execution Phase.

RROR: Could not access remote file "/opt/aCC/bin/aCC" in software

Shalom,

This is highly unusual.

Normally an install will not go forward if there is not disk space.

I would think there is some other problem not letting /opt/aCC/bin/aCC be created. Such as maybe its already installed or some other file is blocking creation(e.g. occupying that name).

There are over 40 threads with this same problem. You need to fix your networking or restart swagentd.

Hi:

As Dennis has noted, failures in 'swinstall' are common questions in this Forum.

Had you pasted the error "could not access remote file" into either Google (and specified the trailer "site:itrc.hp.com" or used the Forum Advanced Search (at the top of most Forum pages, you would have been amply rewarded with threads directing you to:

1. Verify your '/etc/hosts' entries
2. Verify that your DNS is resolving your hostname correctly.
3. Restart the 'swagentd' daemon

There are over 326,655 posts in the HP-UX System Administration category alone. Your error isn't new.

Bob and I got an enhancement request filed on this swinstall issue, QXCR1000830713. Hopefully it will have either a better error message or work.
