    <description>Hi,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I want to validate my archave log with current databse, when I execute the command from UNIX prompt, I'm getting the fallowing&lt;BR /&gt;#rman&lt;BR /&gt;RMAN&amp;gt;&lt;BR /&gt;RMAN&amp;gt; crosscheck archivelog all ;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I'm getting the below error.&lt;BR /&gt;RMAN&amp;gt; corsscheck archivelog all;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;RMAN-00571: ===========================================================&lt;BR /&gt;RMAN-00569: =============== ERROR MESSAGE STACK FOLLOWS ===============&lt;BR /&gt;RMAN-00571: ===========================================================&lt;BR /&gt;RMAN-00558: error encountered while parsing input commands&lt;BR /&gt;RMAN-01005: syntax error: found "identifier": expecting one of: "allocate, alter, backup, beginline, blockrecover, catalog, change, connect, copy, create, crosscheck, configure, duplicate, debug, delete, drop, exit, endinline, host, {, library, list, mount, open, print, quit, recover, register, release, replace, report, renormalize, reset, restore, resync, rman, run, rpctest, set, setlimit, sql, spool, startup, shutdown, send, show, test, upgrade, validate"&lt;BR /&gt;RMAN-01008: the bad identifier was: corsscheck&lt;BR /&gt;RMAN-01007: at line 1 column 1 file: standard input&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;for your information I'm using oracle 9i.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;how I can mount the databse in RMAN mode?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Thanks and best regards&lt;BR /&gt;Mohammed Tajammul Ahmed</description>

      <description>execute:&lt;BR /&gt;select status from v$instance;&lt;BR /&gt;in sqlplus and when the db is mounted so the db is mounted.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;what kind of rman repository have you? controlfile or db?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;if controlfile, start rman like this:&lt;BR /&gt;export ORACLE_SID=YOUR_SID&lt;BR /&gt;rman target / nocatalog&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;and then you should be able to validate your archivelogs..&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;p.s. don't forget to say thanks with hp points, also i your other threads.</description>
