You can take an HP Training Class - Posix Shell Programming. The student workbook has a good bit of samples and it would be helpful for you. I still have mine.

You can search this site for scripts - they are scattered throughout.

I enjoyed the following books, that included examples:
KornShell Programming Tuturial by Rosenberg
Effective awk Programming by Robbins
(I just love awk...)

tips, examples, and so forth are available. non-OS specific
