Have you tried this from a GSP console?
I had tried that years ago without success.

It worked from telnet and ssh sessions fine. But once going to the GSP console the passwords weren't accepted.

I won't have access to a console for the next few weeks so if you can try it out and let me know that would be great.

As I like using those characters at times as well.

HP always told us @ and # could not used in password on HP-UX.

If somebody used them, then you should change password in single user mode.

But I have tried. It can be done by this step.

eg: Somebody's password is abc@123 or abc#123.
You can input password by:
abc\@123
or
abc\#123

Then you login into your system!

:)

Wish you enjoy it.

Chiao Jason

good findings. You knew the HP secrets!!!! ;)

anyway, this can help us. But which OS version you found it? Did you check in all versions?

So, in this thread nobody can get points, right or wrong?

Hello therewas a good discussion over this issue have a look over
http://forums12.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?admit=109447627+1208581598025+28353475&threadId=1182818

and I suppose you can have passwd with special character if it is preceeded by a "\"

BR,
Kapil

>Kapil: I suppose you can have password with special character if it is preceded by a "\"

The only reason to use "\" is to login and immediately change it to not have # and @.
Dennis,
I think we have have a passwd with special character , only thing needed is to put a "\" before so that UNIX will understand that its not any special character.
BR,
Kapil

I only tried this from telnet to v11.11. It should be verify whether it works well at any situations.

I will verify it at v11.23, in sam, in ssh, and anyway I known.

The result I will paste here later.
