Login as root. &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;2. cd /var/adm/sw/products &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;3. mv /var/adm/sw/products/INDEX  /tmp/INDEX # why we are moving in to /tmp/index file&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;4. vi void.psf &lt;BR /&gt; &lt;BR /&gt;5. Add the following lines to void.psf  # what is void.psf while i am creating i am seeing&lt;BR /&gt;it is a new file ?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt; # why we are putting the following entries in void.psf?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;product &lt;BR /&gt;tagvoid &lt;BR /&gt;fileset &lt;BR /&gt;tagvoid &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;6. swpackage -s ./void.psf  # what is the meaning of it&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;7. swinstall void      # for what reason we are  installing void and then remove&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;8. swremove void; rm void.psf; swremove -d void&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>hi torsten&lt;BR /&gt;when i am trying to install one of the downaloded file i couldn't install, after that i did /usr/sbin/swagentd -r thne tried agian&lt;BR /&gt;it was not working&lt;BR /&gt;then one guy suggested me do like these way&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;sajjad</description>

      <description>dear all &lt;BR /&gt;I downloaded one file with gcc.....gz &lt;BR /&gt;i removed extension&lt;BR /&gt;swintall -s /usr/local/gcc&lt;BR /&gt;it is installed one sever if ia mtrying in second it is not installing thats why&lt;BR /&gt;i did swagentd -r for restarting deamon&lt;BR /&gt;again i tried to install it was not working &lt;BR /&gt;then i asked one guy he&lt;BR /&gt;told me do the following steps&lt;BR /&gt;what i mentioned in above thread, any how&lt;BR /&gt;I need explanantion of that steps when we have to follow up such steps what is the logic behind it. for my information i need step by step explanation what i mentioned in my previous thread.&lt;BR /&gt;I know u peoples can explain very well&lt;BR /&gt;thanks once  more all of u&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>I would forget about the above steps quickly ...&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Where did you get the gcc depot?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;If you try to install "...it is not installing..." - any messages???</description>
