If you want to access M$ products, then you will need citrix on an XP or w2k server. You can have both.

Someday soon, with virtual partitions and the HP servers with itanium chips, you'll be able to have both hpux and M$ on the same physical server (note - partitioned).

live free or die
harry

Hi,

its pretty easy:

Metaframe for HP-UX brings your HP-UX application or the desktop to any computer that is able to run a ICAClient (eg. a Windows PC, a Macintosh ...).

Metaframe for Win2k or XP brings your Windows applications or the desktop to any computer that is able to run a ICAClient (eg. a HP-UX Workstation, a Macintosh, a Linux PC ...).

So basically Metaframe kind of "exports" applications or the desktop of the computer it is running on.

Hope this helps

Regards Stefan

Hi,
Your microsoft colleague is right. You cannot run windows executables with citrix on HP-UX server as of now. Because windows executables will not run in HP-UX , which only recognises and executes PA-RISC compiled HP-UX executables.

regards,
U.SivaKumar

Hi,
Citrix on HP-UX will offer an ICA access to your server, in fact you replace your X11 access by an ICA access. You win on bandwith but cost is higher !
To access to windows you can do it by either citrix ica client, or through the rdp protocol (less expensive). And there's a product to do it : rdesktop (google it, or software portal). This product is connecting to WIndows 2000 or XP terminal server which is less expensive than ICA (but you have less capabilities...)

Hope it may help

Benoit
