Hi,

so is it possible to setup MCSG cluster on two separate disk arrays, with two groups of packages (one group of packages for each disk array). I understand it is quite strange configuration, but I'd like to know.

Help will be appreciated.
N.

Hi,
it is necessary that the discs of the the vg in cluster are visible to the systems that share that vg (that run the package that vg belong).

Enrico

Hello,

Reply is inline:

Is it possible to setup MCSG cluster on two separate disk arrays, with two groups of packages (one group of packages for each disk array).

Following is possible
a) Cluster can consist of 2 disk arrays
b) Nodes in the cluster should be able to see both the disk arrays which are being used in cluster
c) one package may correspond to one disk array and another can point to second package
d) If you want package to be configured on one disk array which is not visible to other node then it's not possible

-Amit

the requirement for shared disc is that any node wishing to run the package that resides on the shared disc MUST see the discs.
Therefore, if you have a cluster with a number of nodes (say 4) and one set of discs is connected to only two of these nodes, then the package residing on the discs can only run on these two nodes.

One item to be aware of is that IF you are configuring a cluster and want to set upo a cluster lock disc, then ALL nodes MUST see the shared VG containing this disc, so I would recommend rather using a Quorum Server than a cluster lock diswc.

Hi,

Quorum server will be used, of course. So conclusion is that configuration with separate groups of servers/packages/disk array on site can build one cluster environment. Am I right?

Thank you.
N.

Yes, you can use multiple disk arrays in one cluster and create multiple packages each assigned to different array.
Quorum server is must for the nodes>3 and this must be accessible from all nodes.

-Amit
