What you have done is correct. Those two lines wont be executed the next time. It will be treated like a comment if you have a # in the beginning.

Regards
Patrick

Dear All
It's a doubt I want to clear.
I made a change in my package control script in one of my own scripts included in the START OF CUSTOMER DEFINED FUNCTIONS area. I have copied the modified control file to the other nodes in my cluster.
I did not stop the package as I need this change to be effected the next time I start my package.
Have I got to recompile my cluster/package for this change to be effected?

Thanks
Faizer

No, your work has been done; simply distribute the control file to all the potential adoptive nodes and you are done.

Well Thanks Steven
The change I had done was hashing the under mentined 2 comands that I had included earlier.
#su - oracle8 -c /oracle8/oracle8/start1158
#su - applmgr -c /oracle8/applmgr/start1158
test_return 51

Sould I remeove them or the hashing would do the job as I do not want this command to be executed.
Thanks
Faizer

This is executed by the shell so a '#' and any characters following it on the line are treated as a comment. Putting the '#' in is all that is necessary. Whether you should remove the lines entirely is up to you. I would approach the "correct" approach like this: If you or someone else looks at this same file a year from now, will the commented-out lines make you more or less confused? Let that principle guide you.
