I have a number of two node clusters running SG 11.14. In planning the upgrade to 11.16 is the first step installing 11.16, or can I patch my way from 11.14 to 11.16?

Stuart

Hey Stuart,

You can patch your way to 11.16.

11.11
PHSS_31067 1.0 MC/ServiceGuard A.11.15.00
PHSS_31075 s700_800 11.11 Serviceguard A.11.16.00
PHSS_31071 s700_800 11.11 Serviceguard A.11.16.00

Depending on your env. some newer or older patches exist.

Kind regards,
Curtis
If these are functioning clusters, or in production, please consider the following approach:

Rolling upgrade:

Fail all packages over to one node. Patch and boot the other node.

Fail all packages over to node two. Patch and boot the primary node.

If you can afford downtime you probably don't even need to do this.

SEP

You cannot patch your way to 11.16!
You must be running HP-UX 11.11 or greater, and perform a rolling upgrade by installing 11.16 and then applying th erelevant patches, as described in Appendix E of the Managing Serviceguard manual available at http://docs.hp.com/en/ha
http://docs.hp.com/en/B3935-90078/B3935-90078.pdf

Also ensure you read the following documents and take note of the changes for security with 11.16:

Release notes
http://docs.hp.com/en/B3935-90078/B3935-90078.pdf

Securing Serviceguard
http://docs.hp.com/en/5874/securingserviceguard.pdf

Editing Security Files for Serviceguard
http://docs.hp.com/en/6277/SGsecurityfiles.pdf
