Hi all!
in a ISMP project we embedd, for the HPUX platform, the JRE 1.3.1.08 (build 1.3.1.08-021127-23:13) that is a 32 bit PA-RISC.
Now, if we try to install on a Itanium IA64; we experience in same cases that java runs without problem, in some other case there is a core dump.

We have something like:

So, I tryed to use the JRE 1.4.1.03 that Install Shield releases (for Itamnium IA64) but I got a:
SIGSEGV 11*
segmentation violation
sh: 8709 Abort(coredump).

Any ideas about this core dump?
In any case, can I use the JRE 1.3.1.08 to run a java on a itanium IA64?

Don't forget to check out and install each and very patch that ia64 needs for Java 1.3. Inadequate patching can cause the core dump issue you are experiencing.

The site in the prior post contains a link for the patches you will need.

For every patch listed, check for its presence as follows:

swlist -l product | grep PHSS_12345

use a real patch id on the end there.

Thanks a lot for your answer.
Anyway... I asked to the administrator of the HP-UX B11.23 box to install tha patches.
He installed the:

PHKL_31500 1.0 Sept04 base patch
PHSS_32502 1.0 Aries cumulative patch

I checked that both the patches are the right one (they superseed the requested ones).

I tryed to install again my application using Install Shield (java 1.3.1.08) and first time it was ok, the second time I got a core dump.

I get:

Is it the jre 1.3.1.08 supported on itanium HP ia64?
