      <title>Upgrade to HPUX11i</title>

      <description>I need to upgrade(not to install from scratch) HPUX11.00 to HPUX 11i v1 (on 64bit platform)and I have an oracle server on the same host (oracle9.2i/64bit), is there any documents that is talking about this issue, will the oracle server work properly after the upgrade without prcessing any further steps? and if not what are the post upgrade procedures to make the oracle work properly after the upgrade?</description>

      <description>Dear Wael,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Although an upgrade from HP-UX 11.00 to HP-UX 11i is possible, I wouldn't do it, especially so if you have a system already set up with all sorts of software.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Much safer to install HP-UX 11i from scratch and then the rest.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Kind regards, Christian</description>

      <description>Update/ux can work with the relink option noted above. Officially, however, Oracle puts its head in the sand. That means upgrade/ux is not supported.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;If you have trouble down the road and they find out you used upgrade/ux, they can say "not supported"&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;That being said, they don't support Ignite server replication and I did that on my last server deployment without difficulty. I just had to learn how to withhold this fact while contacting Oracle support on the issues that came up.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Cold install of the OS then the application is the supported way. You now have enough information in this thread to proceed.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;SEP</description>
