topic installing software in Operating System - HP-UX

Hi. I'm somewhat HP naive and want to [have my SA] install perl & gcc that I got from Merijn's site. To do this I need bzip2, which is also there. and comes as bzip2-1.0.2-pa2.0 .

Is there some installation tool that works on file names like these?

Thanks.

http://hpux.connect.org.uk/hppd/hpux/Misc/bzip2-1.0.2/

That is like gunzip, it merely unzips the files. It does not install them.

SEP

Hi,

bzip2 seems to be a tar, so I would check with 'tar tvf ...' if it's a executable or a depot, which has to be installed with swinstall.
Maybe there's a readme or you can find something here:
http://sources.redhat.com/bzip2/#bzip2-doco

Merijn is on vacation this week, so maybe the other gurus can help you.

Volkmar
